Daemon’s work in the past couple of years proves he stands alone. “Inertia,” the debut track from ROTN, proves how strong he is standing with others.
Daemon, Rec Riddles and Supreme Sol trade verses that are all motion — no inertia, despite the title — over a synth-heavy beat with a hint of menace that feels just right for October. ROTN’s first official release is a posse cut in the classic sense of the phrase. Three of St. Louis’ finest emcees bring out the best wordplay in each other, finish each other’s thoughts, and create an energy bigger than any one man alone can account for.
“Inertia” is part three of a five-single run under the “Follow the Leader” header for the prolific artist Daemon, whose tracks “Vader” and “Turn the World Around” have earned him new fans and prominent placement. The latter broke through in a big way, earning a spot on XBox’s exclusive game Forza Horizon 5 and in a powerful ad for the ACLU. Past tracks have been featured everywhere from Bernie Sanders walkouts (“Feel Good”) to Xbox Exclusives (“Turn the World Around” in Forza Horizon 5) to Netflix shows (Inventing Anna, Daybreak, Work It, Locke & Key) to ads (Mini Cooper and Sephora) to TBS shows (the Jordan Peele-produced The Last O.G.). Daemon has also collaborated with Killer Mike and Trackstar the DJ from Run the Jewels, DJ Shadow and more.
